Is Aromatherapy for you
So, you may ask yourself, is Aromatherapy Massage for me? The good news is it’s suitable for most adults, young and old. However there are certain conditions where you should not have Aromatherapy massage. Therefore, your Aromatherapy massage session begins with a consultation. This enables me to determine if Aromatherapy massage is right for you. I put your health first, so you may need to consult your doctor to get permission before your treatment can start. For example if you have a heart condition. If you are unsure about anything, please contact me for advice before booking an appointment. All your medical and personal information remains confidential for future treatments.
Please note you should not use Aromatherapy massage instead of conventional medical care. Consult a health care professional for medical advice.
What happens during a Treatment
Your treatment lasts from 15 to 60 minutes. I can focus the treatment on the arms and hands, legs and feet, neck and shoulders, or back. The session will start with a consultation. You can explain to me what you want to gain from the treatment. This consultation will help me determine what combinations of essential oils to use during your treatment.
After your consultation, the selected essential oils are mixed with vegetable-based carrier oil. You will sit on a low-backed chair for the treatments on the arms and hands or neck and shoulders. I use the couch for legs and feet, or back. Towels are used to cover areas of the body not being worked on ensuring your modesty.
Once the treatment has finished, you will be given water to drink, I will answer any of your queries and give you aftercare advice. Therefore, you should avoid alcohol and caffeine in the hours after the treatment but drink water and rest if you feel your body wants to.
Origins of Aromatherapy Massage
The benefits of essential oils were first discovered by the ancient Egyptians, Romans and the Greeks. In the 1920s scientific studies proved the absorbed essential oils through the skin reach the organs through the body’s circulatory system.
